How to Find Your ICCID Number?
Find it on your SIM card
You can find your ICCID number on your SIM card. You need to eject your phone’s SIM card out. Your ICCID number will normally be printed unto the SIM card for identification.

How Can You Track Your Phone Using the ICCID number?
So, how you can use this ICCID number to track your phone it was lost? By reporting the loss to your network operator, the network operator can help by tracing the mobile number that is linked to the ICCID. This is because ICCID is linked to the SIM inside the phone you have lost.
However, if the thief has removed the SIM card, it might prove the difficulty of the network operator to track. But the second backup would be to then give the IMEI number as the IMEI number is linked directly to your phone.
However, if the network operators do manage to track your phone using ICCID via the SIM card, please report it to the police. Do not take action on your own as you do not know how dangerous the thief would be.

We have made the difficult decision to retire the Tucows Downloads site. We’re pleased to say that much of the software and other assets that made up the Tucows Downloads library have been transferred to our friends at the Internet Archive for posterity.
The shareware downloads bulletin board system (BBS) that would become Tucows Downloads was founded back in 1993 on a library computer in Flint, MI. What started as a place for people in the know to download software became the place to download software on the burgeoning Internet. Far more quickly than anyone could have imagined.
A lot has changed since those early years. Tucows has grown and evolved as a business. It’s been a long time since Tucows has been TUCOWS, which stood for The Ultimate Collection of Winsock Software.
Today, Tucows is the second-largest domain name registrar in the world behind Go Daddy and the largest wholesaler of domain names in the world with customers like Shopify and other global website builder platforms. Hover offers domain names and email at retail to help people brand their life online. OpenSRS (and along the way our acquisitions of Enom, Ascio and EPAG) are the SaaS platforms upon which tens of thousands of customers have built their own domain registration businesses, registering tens of millions of domains on behalf of their customers. Ting Internet is building fiber-optic networks all over the U.S. At the same time, we’re building the Mobile Services Enabler SaaS platform that is powering DISH’s entry into the US mobile market.
Point is, we’re keeping busy. Graffiti instinctsgraffiti movies & documentaries.
For the past several years, history, well sentimentality, has been the only reason to keep Tucows Downloads around. We talked about shutting the site down before. Most seriously in 2016 when instead, we decided to go ad-free, keeping the site up as a public service.
Today is different. Tucows Downloads is old. Old sites are a maintenance challenge and therefore a risk. Maintaining the Tucows Downloads site pulls people away from the work that moves our businesses forward.
Tucows Downloads has had an incredible run. Retiring it is the right move but that doesn’t alter the fact that it will always hold a special place in hearts and our story. We’re thankful to the thousands of software developers who used Tucows Downloads to get their software in front of millions of people, driving billions of downloads over more than 25 years.

For the past several years, history, well sentimentality, has been the only reason to keep Tucows Downloads around. We talked about shutting the site down before. Most seriously in 2016 when instead, we decided to go ad-free, keeping the site up as a public service.
Today is different. Tucows Downloads is old. Old sites are a maintenance challenge and therefore a risk. Maintaining the Tucows Downloads site pulls people away from the work that moves our businesses forward.
Tucows Downloads has had an incredible run. Retiring it is the right move but that doesn’t alter the fact that it will always hold a special place in hearts and our story. We’re thankful to the thousands of software developers who used Tucows Downloads to get their software in front of millions of people, driving billions of downloads over more than 25 years.

The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 encourages the USDA to find ways to avoid unnecessary or duplicative paperwork in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). As part of this effort, the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) established a Paperwork Reduction Work Group. One of the workgroup’s recommendations was to consolidate policy related to Head Start and Early Head Start participation in the CNPs.
The FNS issued a Policy Memorandum to all CNPs emphasizing categorical eligibility of Head Start and Early Head Start participants. The policy ensures that these populations receive healthy and nutritious meals without undue barriers. Questions and AnswersDo children participating in Head Start or Early Head Start need to complete additional income eligibility forms to qualify for free meals?National School Lunch Program Ohio
Children enrolled in federal and state-funded Head Start or Early Head Start Programs are categorically eligible to receive free meal benefits without further application or eligibility determination. Categorical eligibility means Meal Benefit Forms are not required.
Eligibility determinations for the CNPs are made on an annual basis. As long as the child is enrolled in Head Start or Early Head Start at the time the annual eligibility determination is made, all reimbursable meals served to that child may be claimed at the free rate.
Institutions, sponsors, and school food authorities may establish eligibility of all Head Start enrollees through documentation provided by the Head Start program. Forms of acceptable documentation include:

*Statement of Head Start enrollment
*List of participants from a Head Start officialIf a child who is eligible for Head Start benefits also attends a child care center or day care home, is the child automatically eligible for free CACFP meals at the child care facility without further application or eligibility determination?
Yes. All CACFP reimbursable meals served to children enrolled in Head Start or Early Head Start may be claimed at the free rate by child care centers or at Tier I rates in day care homes in which they are enrolled. Documentation of acceptable Head Start eligibility must be maintained. Are the siblings of other children who are members of a Head Start child’s household automatically eligible for free CACFP meals at the child care facility without further application or eligibility determination?
Only children enrolled in Head Start are categorically eligible. Categorical eligibility based on Head Start enrollment does not extend to all children in the same household. Can a day care home document its eligibility for Tier I reimbursement based on the provider’s own child’s enrollment in a Head Start Program?
The Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007 (Public Law 110-134) extended categorical eligibility only to children enrolled in Head Start; therefore, a child’s Head Start enrollment does not extend to the provider.
This supersedes the guidance found in USDA’s Questions and Answers #4: Two-tier Reimbursement Structure for Family Day Care Homes Participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program May 16, 1997. Are children who are enrolled in Head Start, but who are members of households that are above the Head Start income eligibility requirements, still eligible for CACFP meals at the free rate?
Yes. All reimbursable meals served to children enrolled in Head Start may be claimed at the free rate. Head Start serves primarily children from families with household incomes at or below the federal poverty level. However, a small proportion of children in families with household incomes above the poverty level may also be served.
Public Law 110-134 amended sections 9(b)(12)(A)(iii) and 17(c)(5) of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to make any child enrolled in Head Start categorically eligible for free meals without further application or eligibility determination.Are children enrolled in state-funded prekindergarten programs eligible for free meals?
Children participating in state-funded prekindergarten programs are not automatically eligible for free meals. In California, the income eligibility requirements for state-funded preschools are less stringent than the requirements for the Head Start Program. Therefore, determinations of eligibility for free meals for participants must be made on an individual basis. Are children enrolled in Indian Tribal Organization (ITO)-funded prekindergarten programs eligible for free meals?
Participation in an ITO-funded prekindergarten program may be a basis for extending automatic eligibility for free meals only if the ITO meets all of the following criteria:
The ITO-funded prekindergarten program uses income eligibility criteria which are identical to, or more stringent than, the Head Start Program.
The ITO-funded program is modeled after the Head Start Program and can serve some percentage of children from households with income over Head Start’s income guidelines, and it can differentiate between children receiving ITO funding based on income and children receiving funding based on other criteria.
In cases where the ITO-funded prekindergarten receives funding under more than one program, the ITO can differentiate between funding sources for the children in each program.
Income determinations for the ITO-funded program do not exceed 12 months in length.
Once an ITO certifies that all of these conditions have been met, the California Department of Education (CDE) may request that the FNS Regional Office approve categorical eligibility for children participating in that ITO-funded prekindergarten program for up to one year. The approval may be renewed every year once the FNS Regional Office receives the ITO’s certification that the program still meets all four criteria.
ITO-funded prekindergarten program directors should consult with their assigned CNP analyst for further guidance.Are Early Head Start par tic pants who are pregnant considered categorically eligible for free meals?
Yes. Participants in Early Head Start who are pregnant and otherwise eligible to receive meals through a CNP are categorically eligible for free meals. Public Law 110-134 amended sections 9(b)(12)(A)(iii) and 17(c)(5) of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to establish such eligibility.Do Head Start centers need to annually verify enrollment or is the documentation valid for the entire period a child is enrolled in Head Start or Early Head Start?
Documentation of enrollment is required annually for each CACFP participant, including those enrolled in Head Start and Early Head Start.Do Head Start centers need to document a parent’s decision to decline an offered infant formula?
Because Head Start has more comprehensive infant formula requirements than the CACFP, Head Start centers do not need to document a parent’s decision to decline offered formula. However, in order for the infant meal to be reimbursable, it must meet the CACFP meal pattern requirements.How should a CACFP center report meals and snacks in the Child Nutrition Information Payment System (CNIPS) in the following scenario?
A center provides breakfast and an a.m. snack to children in a Head Start program in the morning, and a p.m. snack to children in a state preschool program in the afternoon (that includes Head Start and non-Head Start eligible children).
In California, agencies submit claims for meals and snacks in the CNIPS. In the scenario listed above, the agency must report both the breakfast and the a.m. snack served during the Head Start program under the Head Start section of the claim and report the p.m. snack served during the state preschool program under the child care section of the claim.
Reminder: All children eligible for Head Start benefits who also attend state preschool would be categorized as free (with acceptable eligibility documentation). The center is required to report meals and snacks as follows:
Classroom A: The center should report meals/snacks under the Head Start section of the claim for reimbursement. The center may use the total count method (total number of meals) versus the actual count method (meal count by child), to document the number of meals/snacks.
Classroom B: The center must report meals/snacks served to the 8 Head Start children under the Head Start section of the claim and report meals/snacks served to the 10 state preschool children under the child care section of the claim. The center must use the actual count method to maintain accurate meal counts.
Classroom C: The center must report meals/snacks under the child care section of the claim for reimbursement. The center may use the total count method to document the number of meals/snacks.What role does the Community Development Institute (CDI) play in Head Start and CACFP?
The CDI is the National Interim Management contractor for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services OHS. The OHS has contracted with CDI, a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Denver, Colorado, to provide interim Head Start management services nationwide. For more information regarding the CDI, please visit the CDI Head Start Web site at http://www.cdiheadstart.org/.If a center participating in the CACFP is issued one license to operate both Head Start and child care, is the agency required to obtain separate approval for each program type in order to submit claims for meals served to children enrolled in both programs?
Yes. In the CACFP site application portion of the CNIPS, the agency would add one site if they share the same address. However, the agency should add two different program types (found in the drop down menu on the Program Type tab). The agency should select Head Start as one program type, and select either Preschool Age Center, Infant/Toddler, or School Age Center for the second program type based on the type of license they acquired.
It is important that agencies separate Head Start programs from other program types as they have separate sections on the claim form. If only Head Start is listed as a program type, only the Head Start portion of the claim will be visible. The Child Care portion of the claim will be visible if at least one of the other three program types are listed in the site application.
Given that all meals are reimbursed at the free rate in the Head Start section of the CNIPS claim, agencies may not claim other program types in this section. The CDE reimburses other program types based on the eligibility determination of each child.Questions

The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 encourages the USDA to find ways to avoid unnecessary or duplicative paperwork in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). As part of this effort, the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) established a Paperwork Reduction Work Group. One of the workgroup’s recommendations was to consolidate policy related to Head Start and Early Head Start participation in the CNPs.
The FNS issued a Policy Memorandum to all CNPs emphasizing categorical eligibility of Head Start and Early Head Start participants. The policy ensures that these populations receive healthy and nutritious meals without undue barriers. Children enrolled in federal and state-funded Head Start or Early Head Start Programs are categorically eligible to receive free meal benefits without further application or eligibility determination. Categorical eligibility means Meal Benefit Forms are not required.
Eligibility determinations for the CNPs are made on an annual basis. As long as the child is enrolled in Head Start or Early Head Start at the time the annual eligibility determination is made, all reimbursable meals served to that child may be claimed at the free rate.
Institutions, sponsors, and school food authorities may establish eligibility of all Head Start enrollees through documentation provided by the Head Start program. Forms of acceptable documentation include:

*Statement of Head Start enrollment
*List of participants from a Head Start officialIf a child who is eligible for Head Start benefits also attends a child care center or day care home, is the child automatically eligible for free CACFP meals at the child care facility without further application or eligibility determination?
Yes. All CACFP reimbursable meals served to children enrolled in Head Start or Early Head Start may be claimed at the free rate by child care centers or at Tier I rates in day care homes in which they are enrolled. Documentation of acceptable Head Start eligibility must be maintained. Are the siblings of other children who are members of a Head Start child’s household automatically eligible for free CACFP meals at the child care facility without further application or eligibility determination?
Only children enrolled in Head Start are categorically eligible. Categorical eligibility based on Head Start enrollment does not extend to all children in the same household. Can a day care home document its eligibility for Tier I reimbursement based on the provider’s own child’s enrollment in a Head Start Program?
The Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007 (Public Law 110-134) extended categorical eligibility only to children enrolled in Head Start; therefore, a child’s Head Start enrollment does not extend to the provider.
This supersedes the guidance found in USDA’s Questions and Answers #4: Two-tier Reimbursement Structure for Family Day Care Homes Participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program May 16, 1997. Are children who are enrolled in Head Start, but who are members of households that are above the Head Start income eligibility requirements, still eligible for CACFP meals at the free rate?
Yes. All reimbursable meals served to children enrolled in Head Start may be claimed at the free rate. Head Start serves primarily children from families with household incomes at or below the federal poverty level. However, a small proportion of children in families with household incomes above the poverty level may also be served.
Public Law 110-134 amended sections 9(b)(12)(A)(iii) and 17(c)(5) of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to make any child enrolled in Head Start categorically eligible for free meals without further application or eligibility determination.Are children enrolled in state-funded prekindergarten programs eligible for free meals?
Children participating in state-funded prekindergarten programs are not automatically eligible for free meals. In California, the income eligibility requirements for state-funded preschools are less stringent than the requirements for the Head Start Program. Therefore, determinations of eligibility for free meals for participants must be made on an individual basis. Are children enrolled in Indian Tribal Organization (ITO)-funded prekindergarten programs eligible for free meals?
Participation in an ITO-funded prekindergarten program may be a basis for extending automatic eligibility for free meals only if the ITO meets all of the following criteria:
The ITO-funded prekindergarten program uses income eligibility criteria which are identical to, or more stringent than, the Head Start Program.
The ITO-funded program is modeled after the Head Start Program and can serve some percentage of children from households with income over Head Start’s income guidelines, and it can differentiate between children receiving ITO funding based on income and children receiving funding based on other criteria.
In cases where the ITO-funded prekindergarten receives funding under more than one program, the ITO can differentiate between funding sources for the children in each program.
Income determinations for the ITO-funded program do not exceed 12 months in length.
Once an ITO certifies that all of these conditions have been met, the California Department of Education (CDE) may request that the FNS Regional Office approve categorical eligibility for children participating in that ITO-funded prekindergarten program for up to one year. The approval may be renewed every year once the FNS Regional Office receives the ITO’s certification that the program still meets all four criteria.

Yes. Participants in Early Head Start who are pregnant and otherwise eligible to receive meals through a CNP are categorically eligible for free meals. In California, agencies submit claims for meals and snacks in the CNIPS. The center must use the actual count method to maintain accurate meal counts.
Classroom C: The center must report meals/snacks under the child care section of the claim for reimbursement. The center may use the total count method to document the number of meals/snacks.What role does the Community Development Institute (CDI) play in Head Start and CACFP?
The CDI is the National Interim Management contractor for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services OHS. The agency should select Head Start as one program type, and select either Preschool Age Center, Infant/Toddler, or School Age Center for the second program type based on the type of license they acquired.
It is important that agencies separate Head Start programs from other program types as they have separate sections on the claim form. If only Head Start is listed as a program type, only the Head Start portion of the claim will be visible. The Child Care portion of the claim will be visible if at least one of the other three program types are listed in the site application.
Given that all meals are reimbursed at the free rate in the Head Start section of the CNIPS claim, agencies may not claim other program types in this section. The CDE reimburses other program types based on the eligibility determination of each child.Questions

There’s a catalogue of sources, in fact, which each Graff Tour guide-in-training must study to earn their “badge.” It is comprehensive and covers various topics ranging from the history of graffiti to the current trends and issues associated with street art. Drawing from the catalogue, we put together a list of favorites (in no particular order) for you to check out.
The History of American GraffitiWritten by Roger Gastman and Caleb Neelon, “The History of American Graffiti” is widely considered the distinctive source on the subject. With over one thousand photographs, this 400-page book follows the movement’s rise from the early days of bombing subway cars in Philadelphia and New York City to its evolution into a legitimate form of artistic expression. In addition to epicenters like NYC and Los Angeles, it considers Wisconsin, Denver, Nashville, Washington D.C., unsuspecting areas where graffiti culture flourished. Profiles of prominent figures as well as lesser-known trailblazers reveal insider-stories and individual views and experiences. Clear a sizable spot on your bookshelf for this one.
Exit Through the Gift ShopThere’s so much we can say about Banksy’s documentary (mockumentary?) film “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” which follows Theirry Guetta, a French filmmaker whose obsession with street art leads him to pursue his own career as a street artist under the nom de guerre Mr. Brainwash. In his quest for fame and fortune, Guetta rubs shoulders with just about everyone – Bansky, Shepard Fairy, Invader, and many others. Funny and thought provoking, the film addresses the hype, enigmatic nature, and commodification, which surrounds the underground art movement and its major players. “Exit Through the Gift Shop” received critical praise and was nominated for an Academy Award. This is one of those films that reveals more of its self with every watch.
Style WarsReleased in 1983 by director Tony Silver and producer Henry Chalfant, “Style Wars” is the first documentary film to consider the vibrant culture of Hip-Hop through graffiti, rapping, and breakdancing. Footage captures the raw, urban landscape of New York City during the 80s when subway cars and city buildings doubled as canvases for graffiti writers. The main protagonists are teenage boys, some even younger who formed a creative coalition that was often at odds with police, the NYC transit authority, and NYC mayor Edward Koch. Today, “Style Wars” is considered a historical artifact representing the golden age of graffiti.
Beautiful LosersDirected by Aaron Rose and Joshua Leonard, the documentary “Beautiful Losers” focuses on a collective of underground artists who emerged during the 1990s. Many came from unconventional backgrounds – graffiti, skateboarding, punk rock, and hip-hop while some had formal art training. What these artists do have in common is a do-it-yourself approach to art making, which defies contemporary art’s rigid systems of exhibition and value. Artist profiles include Shepard Fairey, Barry McGee, Stephen ‘Espo’ Powers, Clare Rojas, Cheryl Duncan, and Mike Mills.
The Faith of GraffitiTwo-time Pulitzer Prize winning author Norman Mailer wrote the essay “The Faith of Graffiti” in 1974 when the movement was just taking off in New York City. Understanding graffiti as art, Mailer was one of the first to evaluate its cultural and social significance. Teenage vandals are elevated to urban revolutionaries fighting for a new kind of art. Now considered a classic, the essay is accompanied by Jon Naar’s stunning photographs. The images served as a catalogue showing the different styles and trends observed of the time.
Subway ArtMartha Cooper and Henry Chalfant’s acclaimed book “Subway Art” is an intimate portrait of NYC’s graffiti scene during the 70s and 80s. Here is a special case when you absolutely should judge a book by its cover (we like the first edition’s best). Armed with a spray can, an urban youth straddles two subway cars in an attempt to get his name up. Sensed in this collection of photographs of NYC’s subway system is a raw energy and creative force like never before. The book focuses on burners – whole car or top-to-bottom pieces, and it’s safe to say that most of the featured pieces no longer exists. Thus, these images stand in as cultural icons representing the first generation of graffiti and its pioneers.
The World Atlas of Graffiti and Street ArtPublished in 2013, “The World Atlas of Graffiti and Street Art” chronicles the movement as it exists in different areas throughout the world. Written by Rafael Schacter, it is organized geographically by city and country, spotlighting today’s most important artists – Os Gemeos in Brazil, Anthony Lister in Australia, Banksy in London, and JR in Paris. Attention is paid to “commissioned” city artworks and their connections with the urban environment, city residents, and local culture. This book offers an insightful view of the rich and dynamic fabric that makes up the global graffiti and street art community.
Tresspass: A History of Uncommissioned Urban ArtIn 2001, Marc and Sara Schiller started Wooster Collective, a pioneering website devoted to documenting street art. Working with author Carlo McCormick, they curated “Tresspass,” a comprehensive book offering a historical overview of street art’s rise to one of contemporary art’s most significant movements. It covers four generation of artists, examining how particular techniques, tendencies and styles defy art paradigms and the law. The WarriorsRead a plot synopsis of Walter Hill’s cult-cult classic “The Warriors,” and you may think “what does this film have to do with graffiti and street art?” Based on Sol Yurick’s novel of the same name, the film’ story is about gang rivalries in New York City in 1979. Remember, graffiti was flourishing at time. With over one thousand photographs, this 400-page book follows the movement’s rise from the early days of bombing subway cars in Philadelphia and New York City to its evolution into a legitimate form of artistic expression. In addition to epicenters like NYC and Los Angeles, it considers Wisconsin, Denver, Nashville, Washington D.C., unsuspecting areas where graffiti culture flourished. Profiles of prominent figures as well as lesser-known trailblazers reveal insider-stories and individual views and experiences. Clear a sizable spot on your bookshelf for this one.
Exit Through the Gift ShopThere’s so much we can say about Banksy’s documentary (mockumentary?) film “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” which follows Theirry Guetta, a French filmmaker whose obsession with street art leads him to pursue his own career as a street artist under the nom de guerre Mr. Brainwash. In his quest for fame and fortune, Guetta rubs shoulders with just about everyone – Bansky, Shepard Fairy, Invader, and many others. Funny and thought provoking, the film addresses the hype, enigmatic nature, and commodification, which surrounds the underground art movement and its major players. “Exit Through the Gift Shop” received critical praise and was nominated for an Academy Award. This is one of those films that reveals more of its self with every watch.
Style WarsReleased in 1983 by director Tony Silver and producer Henry Chalfant, “Style Wars” is the first documentary film to consider the vibrant culture of Hip-Hop through graffiti, rapping, and breakdancing. Footage captures the raw, urban landscape of New York City during the 80s when subway cars and city buildings doubled as canvases for graffiti writers. The main protagonists are teenage boys, some even younger who formed a creative coalition that was often at odds with police, the NYC transit authority, and NYC mayor Edward Koch. Today, “Style Wars” is considered a historical artifact representing the golden age of graffiti.
Beautiful LosersDirected by Aaron Rose and Joshua Leonard, the documentary “Beautiful Losers” focuses on a collective of underground artists who emerged during the 1990s. Many came from unconventional backgrounds – graffiti, skateboarding, punk rock, and hip-hop while some had formal art training. What these artists do have in common is a do-it-yourself approach to art making, which defies contemporary art’s rigid systems of exhibition and value. Artist profiles include Shepard Fairey, Barry McGee, Stephen ‘Espo’ Powers, Clare Rojas, Cheryl Duncan, and Mike Mills.
The Faith of GraffitiTwo-time Pulitzer Prize winning author Norman Mailer wrote the essay “The Faith of Graffiti” in 1974 when the movement was just taking off in New York City. Understanding graffiti as art, Mailer was one of the first to evaluate its cultural and social significance. Teenage vandals are elevated to urban revolutionaries fighting for a new kind of art. Now considered a classic, the essay is accompanied by Jon Naar’s stunning photographs. The images served as a catalogue showing the different styles and trends observed of the time.
Subway ArtMartha Cooper and Henry Chalfant’s acclaimed book “Subway Art” is an intimate portrait of NYC’s graffiti scene during the 70s and 80s. Here is a special case when you absolutely should judge a book by its cover (we like the first edition’s best). Armed with a spray can, an urban youth straddles two subway cars in an attempt to get his name up. Sensed in this collection of photographs of NYC’s subway system is a raw energy and creative force like never before. The book focuses on burners – whole car or top-to-bottom pieces, and it’s safe to say that most of the featured pieces no longer exists. Thus, these images stand in as cultural icons representing the first generation of graffiti and its pioneers.
The World Atlas of Graffiti and Street ArtPublished in 2013, “The World Atlas of Graffiti and Street Art” chronicles the movement as it exists in different areas throughout the world. Written by Rafael Schacter, it is organized geographically by city and country, spotlighting today’s most important artists – Os Gemeos in Brazil, Anthony Lister in Australia, Banksy in London, and JR in Paris. Attention is paid to “commissioned” city artworks and their connections with the urban environment, city residents, and local culture. This book offers an insightful view of the rich and dynamic fabric that makes up the global graffiti and street art community.
Tresspass: A History of Uncommissioned Urban ArtIn 2001, Marc and Sara Schiller started Wooster Collective, a pioneering website devoted to documenting street art. Working with author Carlo McCormick, they curated “Tresspass,” a comprehensive book offering a historical overview of street art’s rise to one of contemporary art’s most significant movements. It covers four generation of artists, examining how particular techniques, tendencies and styles defy art paradigms and the law. Another great aspect about Tresspass its acknowledgement of the connection between more institutionalized artists Jenny Holzer, Gordon Matta-Clarke and Keith Haring and Blu, Banksy, and Faile – all were/are producing unsanctioned art in urban spaces.Graffiti Instinctsgraffiti Movies & Documentaries 2017
Bomb ItDirected by Jon Reiss, “Bomb It” is a historical documentary about graffiti complete with rare footage and interviews from the movement’s earliest days through the present. Legends Taki 183, Stay High 149, and Cope 2 are featured alongside today’s biggest names such as Revok and Mear One. Illustrating graffiti’s global impact, “Bomb It” tracks street culture through New York City, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco, London, Paris, Tijuana, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Hampburg, Berlin, Cape Town, Saõ Paulo, and Tokyo.
The WarriorsRead a plot synopsis of Walter Hill’s cult-cult classic “The Warriors,” and you may think “what does this film have to do with graffiti and street art?” Based on Sol Yurick’s novel of the same name, the film’ story is about gang rivalries in New York City in 1979. Remember, graffiti was flourishing at time. If these sources suggest anything, it’s that the narrative of graffiti and street art is complex, deep, and still unfolding. Today, application of labels and categorization is impossible, because artists operate simultaneously inside and outside the system. We set out to make a starter list of books and films, which addresses the movement’s historical origins as well as today’s trends and impulses.
